Reasons Common for Divorce
There are several types of divorce, and usually, the parties are free to consent to the divorce if one or both of them are not at fault, and this is referred to as consensual divorce. There are, however, reasons for divorce that couples usually base their petition on. The following are these reasons or grounds:
- Living apart for a duration of at least one year;
- Abandoning the other spouse without just reasons;
- Inflicting suffering or causing emotional pain;
- Committing a crime, such as adultery or concubinage, or other grave crimes;
- Breaking down or constant fights in the first few months of marriage
